Easter break - snippets from our getaway
Family getaways are kinda everything. Stressful to organise, and travel time is the pits, but once your there and everyday life starts to melt away, it really is where those core childhood memories are made. For me I am always torn between wanting to just enjoy the uninterrupted time with my family, but also documenting our time away. Photographing my family is totally different to photographing clients- partly because my kids already know all my tricks and donβt give two hoots about having photoβs takenβ¦. but because they are mine and I know them inside out- I just love photographing them doing their thing without direction, and the pressure of getting the perfect pictureβ¦ Its something I strive to do with my sessionsβ¦ but when shooting for another family there is a silent expectation to deliver an epic galleryβ¦. in contrast to when Im shooting for myself, if the photoβs come out crappy, then its really no big deal- ill just pick up the camera tomorrow and do it all again.
This images where taken at a few locations spotted around my home town Dungog, I grew up there until I went to high school when I moved to the Central Coast⦠It is one of the places that I always go back to.. not just cause its gorgeous and everything you would expect of charming country town- but I want my kids to have even a drop of the memories I made their as a kid. And yes- for those about to ask, we did stay in a train (the spot is called Carriage Way and the kids lives where made!
